The application period for the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) at Princeton takes place in the early spring of each academic year, with the new cohort of Fellows selected by April. Current sophomores who are committed to the mission of MMUF, and who have declared or plan to declare concentrations in designated fields of study in the humanities and humanistic social sciences, are eligible to apply.

The official application form for MMUF will be available through Princeton’s Global Programs System (GPS) at the beginning of the spring semester. However, because many components of the application are intended to be drafted separately and attached to the form, you can get started right away on getting help for, building, and writing your application materials using the various resources on this website. Follow the links below for more information.

Application Help

The application requirements for the MMUF are modeled after applications for many U.S. PhD programs in the humanities and humanistic social sciences. This is designed to be an early step for you along your trajectory to a PhD–encouraging you to reflect on whom you have been and to clarify your vision for whom you want to be, with a focus on how graduate school can help you toward that future.

To support you in that, we offer a number of different types of resources, including designated MMUF Application help sessions, to help you produce the strongest application you can, all of which can be found on the application help page
