Tatiana Evans

Bio/Description

Tatiana Evans is a current junior from Los Angeles who is pursuing an Independent Concentration in Culture & Media Studies and a certificate in African American Studies. Before starting her freshman year at Princeton, she spent a gap year in Salvador, Brazil through Princeton’s Bridge Year Program. While there, she learned Portuguese, performed service work and lived with a host family. She credits her time during that year with first inspiring her scholarly interests in film. During her sophomore year, she was drawn to design an independent concentration that would allow her to engage more in depth with questions of race, gender, and media. In addition to being a Mellon Fellow, she is also a member of USG’s movie committee, the Department of African American Studies’ Undergraduate Advisory Board and the Scholars Institute Fellows Program. Her current research centers on early African American filmmakers.
