
Bio/Description
Diego Ayala-McCormick is a third-year student from Los Angeles, CA. He is currently pursuing a concentration in History and a certificate in Latin American studies. He is broadly interested in colonialism, the political economy of development and the history of capitalism, with particular emphasis on the Caribbean, the Southern Cone and East Asia. As an extension of a seminar research paper, he is currently studying agrarian reform, US colonialism and sugar production in Puerto Rico in the late 1930s and early 1940s. His two main current interests are the political economy of development in late Francoist Spain and the histories of colonialism, sugar production and development in mid twentieth century Puerto Rico and Taiwan.
