Steven Gomez is a senior from Queens, New York pursuing a concentration in History with a certificate in Latin American Studies. His research focuses on the topic of historical memory in Colombia, specifically looking at the ways in which communities and institutions have constructed and propagated certain historical narratives about the Colombian armed conflict for social and political purposes. He is interested in exploring the intersection between technology and the humanities, using GIS software and digital text analysis to discover new ways of analyzing historical events and historiographical methodologies. On campus, he works as a research assistant for Dr. Seth Perry of the Department of Religion and served as co-chair for the Butler College Council.
