
Bio/Description
Toyin Edogun is from a small suburb outside of Nashville, TN. She was a Mellon Mays Residential Associate who pursued her African American Studies degree through the subfield of African American Culture and Life. Her research interests are primarily focused on the ways that ordinary African Americans engaged in resistance against oppression through leisure or small acts of rebellion. After completing her undergraduate degree, Toyin plans on pursuing a Ph.D. in History before going on to be a professor of African American History. When she is not in class or leading meetings for the student groups she heads, Toyin is involved with the cheerleading team and DoroBucci Dance group.
